Composite Primary Keys

In a recent forum posting, Jaquio asked "I've heard of this (composite primary keys) somewhere but don't know how to implement it. I want to be able to generate customer ID's by taking the first 3 characters of thier first name and their phone number. I'm sure theres a way. Any suggestions?"
