Converting Time Durations from FileMaker Pro to Access

"I have a FileMaker 5 database I've been using to track my swimming time. I now have a new PC and have switched to XP so instead of FileMaker 5 I must use Access 2003 or Paradox X3.

My FMP database contains fields for the swim date, length type (meter or yard), number of lengths, and actual swim time, i.e. duration, so that the time per mile (in minutes and seconds) and time per length (in seconds) are calculated.

Unfortunately, the swim time is recorded as hh:mm:ss, which is converted to a time of day if I import it to Access.

Can anyone explain how to set up the swim duration field? All help will be appreciated."
