Top N By Group SQL Query

In a recent forum posting, LJBC asked:
"I have a query listing indivuals with various amounts assigned to them. I am trying to find the top 5 values by indiviual. I am able to get top 5 values for the whole query but need help doing this by "group". Any assistance would be really appreciated."
