Compacting a Split Database

In a recent forum message, Sarah wrote:

"I have a huge issue with my database being too big. We were able to restore it, but I need to compress it and there are no directions anywhere on how to go about this. I have compacted it, but I know it will only be a matter of time before I run into the same problem."

It is my experience that you need to compact both parts. The portion of the database that includes the tables is not compacted when you compact the forms, queries, reports, etc.
