Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) Definition

Definition: Online Analytical Processing software allows for the real-time analysis of data stored in a database. The OLAP server is normally a separate component that contains specialized algorithms and indexing tools to efficiently process data mining tasks with minimal impact on database performance.
