Well Written, But Too Many
Typos
Roger Jennings has put together an excellent reference work in the Database
Developer's Guide with Visual Basic 6. He provides an
extremely detailed and well-thought out treatment of a variety of
development and database design topics. Unfortunately, there are
numerous typographical errors in the code samples he provides.
Admittedly, the blame might rest with the typesetters or production
personnel, but the number of mistakes render the accompanying CD-ROM
virtually worthless, except as a debugging exercise for students.
That said, the book itself is an easy read, despite it's 1000+
pages. It's packed full of examples and illustrations and contains
a wealth of advice useful for both novice and intermediate database
developers. The code samples are useful in helping you learn the
proper thought process behind development, even if they don't provide
immediately useful code to practice with. |
