Entering a Query

Next, you may begin typing a SQL statement at the 1> prompt. You may use as many lines as you wish for your query, pressing the Enter key after each line. SQL Server will not execute your query until explicitly instructed to do so (as shown in the next step).

In this example, we execute the following query:
SELECT *
FROM HumanResources.shift
